Volvo’s SUV lineup is stunning, so it is understandably difficult to decide which model is a great fit for you. The XC60 sits in the middle of the lineup and is undeniably refined. The XC90 takes its place directly above the XC60 in the lineup, and it adds the functionality of the third row of seats. What are the other significant differences between the 2022 Volvo XC60 and the 2022 Volvo XC90 that you should be aware of before you finalize your selection? Our sales reps at Dyer & Dyer Volvo Inc. are happy to help you uncover their differences.

Performance

The XC60 is offered with three powertrain options. The base option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a battery as part of a mild hybrid setup. This engine generates 260 horsepower and is referred to as the B5. A supercharged variation creates 308 horsepower and is known as the B6. A plug-in hybrid variation of this same engine is available, and it produces 400 net horsepower. This setup is referred to as the XC60 T8. For the XC90, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 250 horsepower and is referred to as the T5. A supercharged variation of this engine is known as the T6 and creates 316 horsepower. The 2022 XC90 T8 is also a plug-in hybrid that produces 400 horsepower.

Appearance

The smaller XC60 is a leaner, chiseled vehicle, but it has some similarities to the XC90. Its profile shows smooth flow through the arched hood and an almost flat roof. The sides are sculpted with deep, angled definition through the lower side panels. The XC60 and the XC90 have the same design for the grille and headlights. This includes a sash-style grille with black mesh. The T-shaped element in the LED headlights sits on its side for personality. The XC90 stands apart with its longer profile and with metallic accents on the lower side panels.

Features

The trim levels for the XC60 and the XC90 hold an extensive array of luxurious materials, high-end technologies, and innovative safety features, and these elements vary by trim. In select or all trims for both vehicles, you can find a Bowers & Wilkins sound system or a Harman Kardon sound system, ambient interior lighting, leather material, heated seats, a four-zone climate management system, a surround-view camera, a heads-up display, lane-keep assist, a wireless charging pad, adaptive cruise control, a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, memory settings for the driver’s seat, a hands-free power liftgate, a panoramic sunroof and more.
