Update 6/29/2020: First, let me start by saying that we got a great deal on the car and the dealer worked with us to get there. We thank them very much for that effort. Second, I spoke with the general sales manager, Philip Jacobson, today. I appreciated the candid conversation we had about our visit. We agreed that a couple of things could have been done differently especially making sure both buyer and dealer are communicating and are on the same page. He acknowledged that finance terms should have been discussed before starting the paperwork. We also discussed the issue with the mats, i.e., we asked for mats as part of our offer and it was not communicated that the mats were not part of final deal. The mats do cost extra and the dealer did not have additional ones lying around so they could not give them to us without an additional cost. That was fair a decision on their part but we agreed that it should have been communicated upfront. Philip decided to order the mats for us which was not needed but it was very nice gesture. I valued the call from Philip and respect the dealer for reaching out to acknowledge our experience. It appears they had some discussions and are working to make sure they have a better process around communication with the buyer and dealer. Dyer and Dyer want to make it a great car buying experience, and, in the end, we did get a great deal on the car. Based on my conversation with Philip, I am changing the review from 2 to 4 stars. Original post 6/27/2020: My wife and I had what we would describe, at best, a mediocre experience at Dyer and Dyer Volvo. The sales representative, Azriel, was very helpful and we would work with him again. However, there were gaps in the overall process. The test drives and discussion over the car details were great but when we asked for spec comparisons between the two cars, XC40 T5 R-design vs. XC60 T5 Momentum, we were just given verbal descriptions. This was fine but it would have been nice to see the comparisons in writing to better understand the differences. Once we decided on the car we wanted (and eventually bought) as part of the final offer, we asked for all weather mats to be put in the car. The salesperson said that could be done but had to ask the manager. When he came back with the final price, there was NO mention that the all-weather mats were not part of the deal. When we took ownership of the car and asked about the mats, we were told that was not part of the deal and they casually noted that they must have forgotten to tell us...really?? Conveniently leave out that part until we take ownership of the car. We were told that because the car we purchased did not come with a specific package we were not getting the mats although we asked for mats as part of the deal we offered, and we were never told otherwise. Lastly, as we started negotiating financing, we were never given an option of how many months we wanted to finance. In hindsight, we should have let them know, but they should know to ask instead of assuming. They had to go back and re-do the paperwork for the number of months. They also started with a high interest rate for someone with excellent credit. We shopped around and found a cheaper rate at a major bank and they were finally able to match but the process was unreasonable at best to need to go through all the financing; make sure to have other financing options at your side. Also, they kept on trying to push additional warranty coverage which, after the hours we already spent there, should not be pushed once we say no. Lastly, note, you cannot get the 0% financing if you combine it with other affiliate offers, this should be mentioned upfront not when we are halfway through negotiations. We should also mention we were asked to give customer service ratings with all high marks before the deal, financing and ownership of car, was even completed... The Volvo we got is a great car and we are considering buying another Volvo in the future, but we are on the fence if we will even come back to this dealership.
