Several premium options are available for SUV shoppers who want the full benefits of an electric vehicle with the quality and refinement that Volvo is known for. The 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge is the all-electric version of the compact XC40. The EX90 will be released for the 2024 model year, and it is the all-electric version of the Volvo's flagship XC90 crossover. What are the important differences between these EVs?

Performance

The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has a two-motor system. This provides all-wheel drive and produces 402 horsepower. Acceleration to 60 miles per hour is accomplished in just 4.5 seconds. This crossover has a 223-mile range on a full charge. Fast charging gets the battery up to 80% in roughly 40 seconds. The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has standard one-pedal driving and an off-road driving mode.

The 2024 Volvo EX90 will also have an all-wheel drive and two-motor layout, which provides 402 horsepower. A more powerful version will also be available with 496 horsepower. The battery's range is 300 miles. Using a fast-charging connection, the EX90's battery can be 80% charged in approximately half an hour.

Appearance

These crossovers have modern Swedish design elements that express confidence and athleticism. The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric has a long, slightly swooping hood that drops into a body-colored grille. The rounded nose places the pronged LED headlights and the geometric air vents farther back. The sides have a standout, deep contouring, and thick molding. The Volvo EX90 shows off moderate arches through its profile. The large, body-colored grille is flanked by LED headlights similar to those on the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, but they drop lower into the modest air vents. The sides of this SUV show off a deep, linear definition line.

Features

Inside the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, you will find eco-friendly Tailored Wool Blend upholstery across its two rows of seats. The infotainment system is Google-based and has voice recognition. Other features are Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, four USB-C ports, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, two 12-volt power outlets, a digital instrument cluster, collision mitigation braking, lane departure mitigation, a panoramic moonroof, adaptive cruise control, heated front, and rear seats and others. The EX90 has these same features. It also will come with Pilot Assist, a 14.5-inch central display screen, intuitive controls in the center stack, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and other features.
