 What's New for the 2025 Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid?

The enviable Volvo XC60 benefited from extensive updates in its 2024 model year, so this premium compact crossover SUV is almost unchanged for 2025. In fact, the only changes are in naming. Specifically, the 2024 XC60 Ultimate is now the XC60 Ultra. In addition, Volvo dropped the Recharge name for the XC60 plug-in hybrid. Now, it is known as the T8 AWD plug-in hybrid. What can you expect from this trim level?

The T8 AWD plug-in hybrid is outfitted with a turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. With this engine, you can travel 35 miles on all-electric power before your XC60 draws fuel from the tank. This engine is paired with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto transmission. Notably, the Polestar Engineered trim level is only offered with the T8 AWD. It adds adjustable Ohlins suspension dampers, gold-painted Brembo brakes and a sport-tuned suspension.

The full trim level lineup includes the Core, the Plus, the Ultra, and the Polestar Engineered. The exterior design is comparable across the trim levels, but there are a few differences in exterior feature availability. The stunning façade includes Volvo's signature grille design flanked by expanded, Thor's hammer LED headlights and deep air vents. The air vents have a double-bar accent running horizontally. Across the sides, a deep, narrow accent crosses the lower portion of the door panels. The Core trim level features 18-inch wheels, auto-dimming side mirrors, and adaptive headlights. The Plus and the Ultra have 19-inch wheels. The Polestar Engineered gives you 21-inch wheels and performance summer tires.

Entry-level cabin and safety features for the XC60 plug-in hybrid include a Google-based infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, a 9-inch infotainment system screen, a portable charging cable, Apple CarPlay, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rear mirror, rear parking sensors with auto braking, forward collision mitigation, blind spot intervention, and lane keeping. The Plus adds Pilot Assist, synthetic leather upholstery, a surround-view camera, front and side parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and lane centering. With the Ultra, you also get a head-up display, Nappa leather seats, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a four-zone climate control system. The top Polestar Engineered trim adds heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 15 speakers.
