Our favorite automaker has been dedicated to bringing you great style, incredible performance, and as much money-saving fuel efficiency possible in all new Volvo models. Now, they've made us aware of a new technology that could take the fuel-saving even further without sacrificing power or performance in any sense, all by the end of this year. We haven't seen anything in action just yet but we have all the details given to us right here on the blog.

It's called the i-ART, it's a brand new kind of fuel injector technology, and it's a world-first in its execution. What it does is provide even higher fuel efficiency than any other four cylinder engine ever has, with higher performance and power, under constantly changing conditions.

Sound too good to be true? Well, Derek Crabb, Vice President Powertrain Engineering at Volvo Car Group, has stated that it's very much a real technology and it uses individual computers on each injector, monitoring the pressure. As conditions change, the computers adapt and alter the injection pressure, giving you the absolute best gas mileage possible in any situation, without any input from the driver.

Volvo has also announced an all-new 8-speed automatic gearbox that will further improve performance and provide a smoother ride. Combined with the i-ART technology, that's some serious fuel savings. The automaker says the next-gen four cylinder engines will surpass V6 engines in efficiency and performance, and someday even be better than V8 engines with the help of electrification. We can't wait to reap the fruits of their labor and get behind the wheel of one for ourselves!

We'll be seeing these technologies in our lineup sometime in early autumn, so you can enjoy your summer while having something to look forward to as the weather cools down once again. If you have a model from our current lineup in mind, come on down to Dyer & Dyer Volvo in Chamblee, GA. We'd love to divulge all the details on something that's caught your eye and even let you take it out for a spin today.
