When it comes to safety, the new Volvo models here at Dyer & Dyer Volvo have it down to both a science and an art. But, as with all things, it can always get better, no matter how good it may be right now. So Volvo has stepped up to the plate to take a swing at giving trucks - and we mean BIG trucks - handling so smooth and easy, even a hamster can take the wheel with little effort.

Let's go into a little more detail about that.

First, it's called Volvo Dynamic Steering and what it does is allow a vehicle, no matter how heavy, to be steered with the lightest touch. To really drive the point home, Volvo set up a demonstration.

Using the path from the base of a quarry to the top, a 13-ton truck would be driven out by a hamster. To accomplish this, all they needed was a steering wheel-fitted cage, the hamster, a carrot, and a man to hold said vegetable.

With the hamster's weight alone able to make the steering wheel turn, the man moved the carrot back and forth across the cage, causing the hamster to chase it. Move to the right, the truck turned right and vice versa. The man never once touches the steering wheel, allowing the tiny hamster's weight to turn the steering wheel.

And, of course, they make it out safe and sound; was there ever any doubt? Leave it to Volvo to take a difficult job and make it that much easier! You can check out the video for yourself here.
