When thinking about the Volvo brand, several words coming to mind. For most people, these words probably include "safety," luxury," and "wagons." That's right, wagons. With more than six decades of wagon heritage behind it, Volvo is preparing to launch the much-anticipated Volvo V90 wagon in the United States later this year. Making its North American debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, the V90 will go on sale for the 2018 model year sometime in mid-2017.

“Wagons are an important part of Volvo’s history,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA, “after successfully launching the XC90 SUV, S90 sedan and most recently V90 Cross Country, we complete our 90 range with the introduction of our new luxury wagon.”

Already receiving lots of international praise for its combination of style and utility, the new V90 wagon is the latest model to be built on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). This means it will share design cues and other attributes with the award-winning Volvo XC90, including the 12” Sensus Connect Touchscreen, open-pore wood trim, and Nappa leather.

Volvo has stated that, in order to provide a more complete range of personalization options, the V90 will be offered exclusively as a custom order model.

"The V90 is a fantastic vehicle for the true wagon enthusiast. As we now introduce the most luxurious wagon ever, we choose to do so giving our customers a range of personalized customer order production alternatives like the Volvo online concierge and Overseas Delivery. This way we provide the fullest range of options to wagon lovers" said Kerssemakers.

The V90 wagon joins the XC90 and S90 sedan at the North American International Auto Show, marking the first time the entire Volvo 90 series has been shown in its entirety in North America.
