Volvo thought of an enterprising new way to show off the Volvo XC60's safety features. It teamed up with Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer and artist Barbara Davidson for an innovative project featuring the onboard security cameras of the new Volvo XC60.
According to Volvo, this is the first time a photographer has used a car as a camera. Davidson took about 30 photos through the lenses of the car's on-board safety cameras to capture life on the streets in Copenhagen from a very different perspective. Her work was displayed at Canvas Studios gallery in London earlier this month, and her work will travel to other countries around the globe throughout 2017.
"With this project, we connect art and safety for people to see the benefits of this technology," Davidson said.
In a press release on Volvo's website, Davidson said she chose to work with the company because of her own personal ties to the brand. When she was a teenager, Davidson said she was involved in a crash where the car flipped over. In normal circumstances, she said, it should have been fatal. However, she was told later that she survived because she was riding in a Volvo.
