Performance
There are three trim levels available for both model years. These are the Momentum, the R-Design, and the Inscription. The same two powertrains are offered for both model years. Both use a 2.0-liter turbo, four-cylinder gas engine linked to an eight-speed auto transmission. The T4 engine comes with front-wheel drive, and it generates 187 horsepower. The T5 engine pairs with an all-wheel drive drivetrain, and it gives you 248 horsepower.
Appearance
There are no notable differences to the exterior of the XC40 between the 2019 and 2020 model years. This lovely crossover SUV has a small stance with prominent, proud surfaces. Its style is defined by a T-shaped light ribbon that runs sideways through the headlights, a sash-style grille, and deep side contours. The XC40 has a metal-accented front fascia, a liftgate spoiler, L-shaped rear lights, and other distinguishing features for both model years. Inside, the leather material available in the 2019 version of the XC40 has been replaced with a combination of cloth and faux leather in the Momentum trim level for 2020.
Features
The features in the Momentum trim level for the 2020 model year are identical to those in the preceding year’s version. For the R-Design and Inscription trim levels, the XC40 benefits from adding a few extra minor features. Depending on the trim selected for 2020, your XC40 could come with a Harman Kardon sound system with 13 speakers, adaptive cruise control, a navigation system, a sunroof, a hands-free liftgate, keyless entry, a blind-spot monitor, auto emergency braking, a dual-zone climate control system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and more.
