Performance
The entry-level powertrain for the 2024 Volvo XC90 is a mild-hybrid, four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter engine that delivers 247 horsepower. A more powerful version of this engine is also available, giving you 295 horsepower. These are both all-wheel drive options that come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid pairs a gas engine with an electric motor. This rear-wheel drive system produces 455 horsepower, and it can take you 32 miles down the road on all-electric power.
Appearance
Except for the charging port on the XC90 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid, you will not find any differences between the PHEV trim and the standard trims. The XC90 has a classy look with a traditional Volvo grille and Thor's hammer LED headlights on the front. The sides add character with smoothly sculpted door panels, a chrome accent bar, and a crease along the lower panels. If you choose the base Core trim level, your XC90 or XC90 Recharge will have a panoramic sunroof, adaptive headlights, 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels, and roof rails.
